Refugee Education
#MeWeSyria by MeWe International Inc.
Countering narratives of violence and extremism in Syrian communities
The Solution
It is the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves that shape how we treat ourselves, each other, and our world. #MeWeSyria, a program of #MeWeIntl, leverages communications skills-building and narrative interventions as tools to enhance psychological wellbeing, leadership skills, and community engagement.
The #MeWeSyria program is both a methodology and training network led by Syrians. Refugee facilitation teams, trained by #MeWeIntl, are provided capacity trainings and resources to lead #MeWeSyria hubs in their own communities. The program hubs synthesize neuroeducation, mental health and psychosocial support concepts, and communication skills-building to improve the overall emotion regulation, perspective-taking, and goal-setting capacities of refugee youth and caregivers. The program has reached more than 3,000 refugees across four countries.
