Jay Collins, Vice Chairman of Corporate and Investment Banking, is Citi’s senior banker for governments. He has covered clients around the world in every sector and run transactions across the full product spectrum of Citi. Jay has advised governments and corporations on large scale financings and M&A on every continent. Over the course of his career, Jay has advised 54 different governments on privatizations, liability management and funding solutions, infrastructure finance, Market’s solutions, structured products and derivatives, and electronic banking services, including a wide range of digital solutions.
Before joining Citi in 1997, Jay worked for Merrill Lynch in the “NY1”, US large-cap Investment Banking team and subsequently in Merrill’s Direct Investment Group. He previously ran Government Relations for CSIS, the largest international think tank in the U.S., and later served as President of the G7 Council, a non-profit shadow G7 group of former Finance Ministers, Central Bank Governors and economists.
Jay has a Masters Degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service where he graduated with Honors in International Business. He speaks Japanese, Spanish, and Portuguese.
